Introduction
There are 34 National Landscapes covering 15% of the land area in England. They are the nation's nearby countryside - more than 66% of people in England live within 30 minutes of a National Landscape.
National Landscapes deliver considerable benefits to the nation, for instance they store at least 17.5% of England’s total soil carbon.
They encompass 20% of England's total woodland cover, and 30% of the nation's ancient woodland.
