An new partnership is asking people to pledge a pound to help restore nature in National Landscapes
AN innovative new partnership that champions and celebrates the importance and beauty of National Landscapes is asking people to pledge a pound to help restore nature in some of the most important green spaces in the UK.
Rooted in the belief that everyone should be able to access and enjoy the natural world, the National Landscapes Association and Landscape Photographer of the Year have come together to be a force for nature with the creation of the #LoveLandscapes movement.
Combining their expertise to drive forward the much-loved competition that has won legions of fans since it started in 2006, the two organisations want to use this opportunity to highlight and celebrate natural landscapes while protecting their future.
John Watkins, CEO of National Landscapes Association, said: “Teaming up with Charlie Waite, who established Landscape Photographer of the Year, has presented us with an exciting opportunity to not only showcase the beauty of these vital, incredible places but to also raise awareness and funds to support nature restoration and ensure they remain places where both people and nature thrive.”
The competition will culminate in a 10-month exhibition in which the best images will be displayed in train stations across the UK and where people will also have the opportunity to Pledge a Pound to the National Landscapes association to kick-start the #LoveLandscapes movement. The money will facilitate crucial nature restoration work in the UK while also uniting a movement of nature supporters.
Celebrated photographer Charlie Waite, who has driven this competition since its inception, is not only passionate about capturing the beauty of nature but also protecting it.
He said: “We know people are inspired by the photographs that come from Landscape Photographer of the Year for our next exhibition, we plan to turn that inspiration into action.
“Through the #LoveLandscapes campaign we will drive awareness of the challenge that nature faces and create an opportunity where everyone can play a role in restoring and protecting our precious landscapes.”
