Introduction
We believe deeply in the benefits of making a connection with nature through landscape. Whether for physical, or mental well being, for individuals or communities, opportunities to enjoy and to connect should be available to all. 66% of the population of England lives within half an hour’s travel time of their nearest National Landscape so they are the nearby nature for the majority of the nation. But we know there are barriers for some and that people from certain backgrounds are underrepresented in National Landscapes, as visitors, residents and members of our staff teams. These groups include people from ethnic minority backgrounds, people from disadvantaged groups, neurodiverse people, people with reduced mobility, people from the LGBTQIA+ community, people from urban areas. We want to remove these barriers wherever we can. Everyone should be able to enjoy and celebrate beautiful places.
