With Dr Bruce Winney (Nature Recovery Lead) & David Hoccom (Big Chalk Programme Lead), from the National Landscapes Association.
Big Chalk began as a bold idea, growing from an initial collaboration of protected landscapes into a thriving, cross-sector partnership of over 150 organisations. United by a common vision, the Big Chalk Partnership is working to create thriving chalk and limestone landscapes across southern England.
Spanning more than 20% of England, this ecologically connected area includes not just designated landscapes but the vital places in between. Coordinating action at this scale - across many plans, priorities, and communities - takes more than ambition. It takes shared evidence, strong partnerships, and the freedom to innovate. Thanks to support from the Protected Landscapes Partnership and Defra, Big Chalk is doing just that.
Together, we’re connecting national nature recovery policy with targeted, place-based action. From big data to boots on the ground, we’re using spatial analysis to identify where collective effort can have the biggest impact. This evidence-led approach is at the heart of the new Big Chalk Nature Recovery Fund, designed to support partners ready to deliver on the ground.
Join us to hear how we’re turning vision into action and building momentum for nature’s recovery at scale.
