Last month, hundreds of delegates came together in Norwich for the National Landscapes Annual Conference, where three packed days of conversation, challenge and connection explored our 2026 theme: Vitality of Place.
From speakers asking big questions about how we can work together to shape National Landscapes of the future and workshop leaders sparking bold new ideas, to policymakers, partners and delegates sharing knowledge and challenging each other’s thinking, the conference brought together people with a shared determination to create landscapes that are resilient, thriving and fit for the future.

This film captures just some of the ideas, conversations and collaborative spirit that flowed through the three days, with delegates telling us they left Norwich with new connections, fresh perspectives and a renewed sense of purpose. You can watch it here.
But while we are celebrating what happened in Norwich, we are already looking ahead.
Planning is underway for the 2027 National Landscapes Annual Conference, taking place from 6–8 July, when we will be taking the conference to Northern Ireland.
It promises to be a very special three days.
Delegates on a site visit to RSPB Minsmere
Northern Ireland’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty encompass an extraordinary diversity of landscapes, communities and heritage. Taking the conference there will give delegates a rare opportunity to experience several of these landscapes and see first-hand the innovative programmes, partnerships and projects being delivered across them.
From Lagan Valley to the Mourne Mountains and beyond, delegates will have the chance to discover landscapes rich in natural, cultural and built heritage, while meeting the people working to protect them and shape their future.

It will also provide another opportunity to bring together colleagues from across National Landscapes family and wider protected landscapes and environmental sector to share learning, build relationships and explore the challenges and opportunities we have in common.
