Commitment to explore further joint working on farming and green finance
On 21 August 2024, the National Landscapes Association and Wye Valley National Landscape welcomed the Welsh Government's Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, Huw Irranca-Davies.
Andrew Blake, Wye Valley National Landscape Lead Officer, Philip Hygate and John Watkins, National Landscapes Association Chair and Chief Executive hosted a site visit showing the Cabinet secretary how National Landscapes are preserving vital habitats and heritage.

The visit kicked off at Ninewells Car Park, where the Wye Valley team showcased their work at Cleddon Bog and Falls. Funded by the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Landscapes; Sustainable Places grant, these projects are transforming the landscape and preserving vital habitats. The Cabinet Secretary and the team explored the area on foot, taking in the progress firsthand.
The group then travelled to the Wye Valley National Landscape offices for a meeting, agreeing to greater and closer working between government and the association to support farming and explore opportunities to increase high integrity green finance.

Philip Hygate, Chair of the National Landscapes Association, remarked on the visit:
