Paul Bower

Development Director

Paul has over twenty years’ experience of working in fundraising, sponsorship and events management on projects for the Cabinet Office, the European Commission, the construction industry and the Canadian Government. He holds a BA in Spanish from the University of Sheffield and an MA in Modern European History from Guildhall University where he specialised in monetary union and EU expansion. He also holds a Diploma in Translation from the Institute of Linguists.

He joined the National Landscapes Association after seven years working as Senior Development Manager for the British Ecological Society where he was responsible for launching their wills and legacies campaign which reached £500,000 in pledges and their first commercial sponsorship offer at their annual conference.

Paul grew up in the centre of Sheffield in a 2 up 2 down terrace with a tiny garden. The 272 bus to Hathersage stopped a few hundred yards fromhis front door and next to the hacksaw blade factory where his mother worked.
He and his friends in the local Scout troop would take the bus out of Sheffield which took an hour to the Peak District where they would hike or just enjoy the views. His focus is on engaging the private sector in the restoration of nature and celebration of natural beauty and providing them with the channels to invest.

Back in the day Paul was also involved in the music industry working with acts including; ABC, The Human League, Madness and Paul Weller.
