Karin Taylor

Trustee

Karin is a Geographer, Chartered Town Planner and Landscape Architect specialising in landscape and heritage. Karin worked as a Planner in local government for 26 years, mainly involved in development planning and rural policy work, and then moved to the National Trust, becoming Head of Planning. In this role she led a team of Planning Advisers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland and had an important role externally in working with other organisations in order to influence national policy in relation to landscape and heritage.

Karin has been closely involved in AONBs throughout her career, having been a founder member of the Officer Working Group for the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs AONB in her local government days, and having commissioned research into the effectiveness of the National Planning Policy Framework in relation to AONBs whilst at the National Trust.

Karin left the National Trust at the end of February 2020 in order to pursue her interests in international planning, landscape and heritage on a freelance and voluntary basis.

Karin joined our Board in 2021.
