Dr Amanda Roberts

Engagement Officer, Gower Connections Project

Amanda leads on public-facing elements of the Gower Landscape Connections project.

Previously working in Higher Education, the Welsh Film and Television industry and on collaborative projects with European academic and business partners, Amanda is experienced in identifying and addressing barriers to participation and in developing and delivering a wide range of inclusive and meaningful practice-based workshops, activities and programmes.

The Gower Landscapes Connections project works closely with landowners, conservationists and community partners to co-create evidence-based management plans that support the area’s long-term ecological health. With three generations of her family living in North Gower, Amanda is passionate about connecting people to place and working collaboratively with local communities in settings which are close to her heart. Through the Gower Connections project Amanda’s aims to draw on her experience to widen access to Gower’s beautiful and varied landscapes and develop deep ongoing connections that actively care for the Gower National Landscape.

With a practice-based PhD in Art, Amanda has an interest in the value of participatory practical activities to facilitate a sense of community and to support personal wellbeing. Amanda continues to develop her own art practice, which is locally focused, with a growing emphasis on the Gower natural landscape incorporating the traditional crafts of spinning and weaving.
