Bruce Winney

Nature Recovery Coordinator

Bruce has been the National Landscape Association’s Nature Recovery Coordinator since 2022. He supports individual National Landscape teams with their nature recovery thinking and makes sure there is a two-way flow of information and understanding between Defra/Natural England and the teams. A big part of this is working out how National Landscapes can contribute to the various national targets the government is committed to

He is lucky enough to live in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, in south Oxfordshire, and after 20 years in academia, recently switched career to work in the conservation sector. Previous to this role, Bruce worked with the capacity building team at BirdLife International followed by a masters in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management. More recently, he learnt a lot as a policy officer with the Wildlife and Countryside Link.
